About NebrijaCentro de Estudios Hispánicos

Spanish as a Foreign Language, our trademark

Spanish as a Foreign Language (E/LE) is one of the key features of the Universidad Antonio de Nebrija. With the participation of both the Centro de Estudios Hispánicos and the Department of Applied Languages, Spanish Language at Nebrija spans three areas: teaching, training and research.

Our commitment to quality has made us one of the most prestigious Spanish language learning and E/LE teacher training centers in Spain and abroad.

This same commitment to quality has led Nebrija to establish collaborative agreements with highly prestigious private and public institutions on both national and international levels.

The Centro de Estudios Hispánicos is associated with CERCLES (European Confederation of Language Centres in Higher Education) and ACLES (Asociación de Centros de Lenguas en la Enseñanza Superior).

When the Centro de Estudios Hispánicos first opened 30 years ago, Spanish was primarily studied only by specialists and enthusiasts of the language ans Spanish culture. Today, Spanish is one of the world's most widely spoken languages.

As a result, the current profile of our students is much more varied-in addition to students of language and the humanities, you can also find in our classrooms students from around the world studying business, journalism, political science, medicine and engineering.

This diversity in nationalities and areas of study has broadened the horizons of the Centro de Estudios Hispánicos and enriched the day to day life at our university.

Thanks to these many points of contact, we have been able to develop one of the most important objectives of our programs: to help students become interculturally competent. This is one of the most demanded skills and attributes in our globalized society.

Pilar Alcover, director of the Centro de Estudios Hispánicos.
