Fundamental Aspects of Spanish Art

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Recognize the main artistic movements of Spanish art and their corresponding historical period.
  • Know and use a technical glossary on materials, art tools, styles and aesthetics.
  • Analyze a work of art.
  • Compare Spanish styles and artists to their international counterparts.
  • Present (orally and in writing) concepts of art in an organized way.

Course description

This course is an introduction to art in Spain over the past five hundred years, focusing on key topics and periods that help to map out the particular nature of Spanish artistic culture. Special emphasis is placed on the Works of artists such as Velázquez, Goya, Picasso, Dalí and Miró.
